Best compilation ever!!! June 3, 2003 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
This disk is the best compilation album ever. It can be a little exhausting listening to this album all at once but overall its a good listen. There's alot of songs here so lets get goin', shall we?Sepultura-Roots Bloody Roots.Good Opener. Sepultura have better songs though. Not Essential to roadrunners history.Would have liked to see their cover of Sabbath's Symptom of the Universe on here. Slipknot-Spit it out(Stamp you out mix) No different then the hyper remix.Should've been the (sic)[molt injected mix] Killswitch Engage-In the Unblind. I like KsE but there is no need for this track. How about putting Numbered days on here? Fear Factory-Replica. Edgecrusher is more essential to the History of Roadrunner. Spineshank-Height of Calousness. The remix of this track is a lot better. Plus its unreleased. You can find this track in many other places. Life Of Agony- Good Choice. They were going to put "River runs Red" on here. I'm Glad they didn't. These are only the first six tracks.I'll go over the word limit if I reviewed em all.The only tracks to skip over are KsE's "In the Unblind", The Soulfly track,Skip glassjaw because they're horrible, Skip King Diamond because he sings like a sissy, and finally skip Chimaira because anyone who covers a sissy band like the cure has no place on a metal collection. Roadrunner Forever!
Meh May 13, 2003 This compilation includes some of the best artist Roadrunner has to offer. A lot of the tracks are b-sides, unreleased, or remixes which is good for those of us that don't want to go out and buy every CD-Single a band has released just to get some edits or b-sides. This album truely does span the existence of Roadrunner and does justice to each artist. My only complaint... no live tracks. Also, to Dustin Barnes... Machine Head is far from an "up and coming act". They've been on Roadrunner longer than Soulfly, Slipknot, and Coal Chamber... all bands that you claim are already "big". I'd have to say the gem of this album would either be Machine Head's cover of "Negative Creep" (originally done by Nirvana) or Glassjaw's "Modern Love Story". But, don't buy it just for Glassjaw... if that's what you want, download it... don't support the label that ... them over. But, if you're looking into this compilation for it's wide selection of artist (not just Glassjaw) it's worth it.
Great Buy!! April 14, 2003 This cd is great! It's not expensive, but it still has some of the best songs RoadRunner bands have ever done, as well as a bunch of new songs. RoadRunner Records has always been an awesome label, but this takes the cake. Putting out a cd like this was the coolest thing they could have done. Everyone who has any good taste in music should go out and buy this cd!
Two Words... April 14, 2003 Two words: Holy [cow] That's the most simple and to the point review you will get. I mean, the mere roster of bands is astounding. Spanning Roadrunner Records life as a label, it debilitates you with 'old-school' bands like King Diamond, Obituary, Deicide ("Deicide, ...Deicide, man," ever see Black Circle Boys?), Life Of Agony, Sepultura and Type O Negative. It then finishes your pitiful body off with newer bands like Slipknot, Stone Sour, Coal Chamber, Spineshank, Fear Factory, Soulfly and more. Twenty KILLER tracks in all. Bottom line: If you can only buy metal compilation, buy this one.
this is what metal should be April 14, 2003 Everything for coal chaber to slipknot. I can't tell how good this album. The best part of this album has got to be stone sour. What else can I say. it just that good.
