5 out of 5 stars 70's Hits at a bargain price   July 26, 2008
Let's just say, the TV show Swingtown has a great soundtrack and I was looking for something reasonably priced to fill my need for these tunes. Big Hits of the 70's did just that. 20 awesome hits from my favorite decade.

5 out of 5 stars awesome single CD of hits from the 1970s   January 22, 2008

Big Hits of the 70's is a budget priced CD that really gives you quite a bit for your money. The twenty tracks are by a broad diversity of artists; and the sound quality is very good.

The album begins with "My Sharona" by The Knack. "My Sharona" has a strong bass beat and they perform this flawlessly. This is good `70s rock that won't let you down; and it may well bring back good memories as well! The Raspberries have a major contribution that sounds almost Beatlesesque with "Go All The Way." "Go All The Way" features great key and tempo changes; and it's a beautiful rock ballad.

Moreover, there's also The Tavares doing their awesome "It Only Takes A Minute." "It Only Takes A Minute" has a great, catchy beat even though some of the lyrics are very cynical about life. I really like "It Only Takes A Minute" and this number is one of the highlights of this album. Maxine Nightingale's "Right Back Where We Started From" also has a solid rock beat; and she sings this really well.

Ike & Tina Turner make a great contribution with their classic hit entitled "Proud Mary;" this is one tune you will probably remember rather easily and the music is unforgettable to the newcomer as well. In addition, The Sylvers make a huge splash with their "Boogie Fever;" this is one tune that will make you want to jump up and start dancing almost wherever you are!

"You $exy Thing" by Hot Chocolate is another tune that is suggestive without being raunchy; and Blue Swede's "Hooked On A Felling" is bound to please you. Blue Swede sure did have a major hit with "Hooked On A Feeling!"

Dr. Hook's "Sharing The Night Together" comes across as a softer type of rock number; but it all works very well. They perform this tune really well and the musical arrangement lacks nothing--it's THAT good.

All in all, Big Hits of The 70's is a great starter CD for people just discovering rock from that awesome decade. It makes a great single CD retrospective, too.

I bought this album mainly for Hot Child in the City, which is one of the all time best songs, but this whole album is great. It put's you back in time and makes you want to dance or go roller skating........I love this album. It's well worth the money...............
